Bangkok December 2022
On Dec. 10, 2022, Saskia ter Welle presented her latest collection CHERISH THE MOMENT in Bangkok during Thai Silk International Fashion Week:
___
Going to Bangkok for Thai Silk International Fashion Week is an experience not to be forgotten. I boarded a plane for the second time in December 2022 with a suitcase full of clothes to present my latest collection in front of an international audience at a beautiful location in the heart of this metropolis.
The welcome in Bangkok was warm and to the point. Meeting other designers again and getting to know yet new people is a highlight of this event.

The Day before the Show
The day before the show is important. I check out the catwalk in advance to get an idea of where it will all take place. There is also half an hour to meet the models, decide who will wear what and in what order they will walk. Shoes are tried on and accessories are picked out. During the fitting, the dressmakers take notes so that at the moment suprême everything goes smoothly. No detail is overlooked.

The Day of the Show
The day of the show itself, everything comes together. It is as if that, which you have been working toward for months, comes to life. A magical moment.
Just before the show, the doubt strikes: have I made the right choices? Will people “get it”: the music, the title of the show * CHERISH THE MOMENT* and the designs themselves?
And then, minutes before the show starts, there are the tears. Tears of excitement and of relief. Of gratitude too: it worked! … and everything despite many personal obstacles in the months before (including the recent death of my father). Unbelievable how sweetly the models responded to this emotion.
At a show, everything happens. In a matter of minutes. Intense. And that makes a show a special and wonderful moment.
The Show
The show itself is short. In a few minutes you show what has been worked on with heart and soul for months.

Behind the Scenes
Behind the scenes, all sorts of things are happening as well. The many press photographers also enter this enclosed domain of designers and models and capture all kinds of casual moment and poses. This is where interviews are conducted for FashionTV.

After the Show
After the show I speak to the Dutch ambassador in Bangkok and Dutch people living in Thailand. A particularly relaxed and fun moment of meeting ‘Dutch people in foreign countries’. I feel privileged to have been invited to participate in Thai Silk International Fashion Week.
